What adapter do I need for my computer on an airplane?

I’m going to Italy in 2 weeks and I read that I can get an adapter to charge the computer on Boeing 757-200. Does anyone know what kind of adaptor I need? Is it just the thing you need to convert a normal plug in to a car charger?

What airline are you on? Many will not have power available – sometimes not even in first class seats. United has been disabling the power outlets on the 757-200s in their fleet for example: http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/United_Airlines/United_Airlines_Boeing_757-200_A.php

You can use the seatguru site to look up the available amenities on various airplane configurations for the different airlines – the flight I was on last week did have a power outlet in business class that accepted either a standard US two prong plug or a European type plug with two prongs – no adapter of any kind was needed.
