what are the differences between liner mode DC power supply and switching mode DC power supply?
Please try to provide the circuit design of both mode for comparison.
Advantages and disadvantages between them.
A linear DC power supply acts as a magic resistor in series with the raw DC, dropping any unneeded voltage and converting it to heat.

A switching DC power supply uses a variable oscillator to feed current through an inductor — for a step-down, the inductor then drops the unneeded voltage, but it only converts a little of it to heat; the rest is stored in the inductor’s magnetic field.
